De-Stilling the Still Life

Posted on January 20, 2012 by aandriot

This is the most amazing concept by Nikolaus Gansterer and Wietske Maas. Turn a famous painting into a fragrance in five not-so-easy steps!

  1. Take a still life painting of a floral arrangement
  2. Work out what actual flowers are in it
  3. Grow those flowers
  4. Distill those flowers
  5. Make perfume

One could potentially extend this beyond florals. What would Starry Night smell like? Oh the possibilities! Maybe that undergraduate degree in art I got really can be applied to perfumery...
