Tea Tree Mythology
The narrow-leafed paper bark Tea Tree is one member of an extensive botanical family, the Myrtaceae, found only in Australia. The aboriginal people from New South Wales used a crushed tea-tree leaves to make a paste to heal wounds. Tea tree has strong antiseptic properties and is a strengthening, medicinal oil. It is often used to treat a wide variety of external fungal and bacterial infections. Tea tree oil is poisonous when taken internally. Spiritually, it can be used to cleanse the aura, purify the soul and clarify the mind.
